How the numbers are calculated

Each cell is just 1RM × percentage, rounded to the nearest loadable plate increment (5 lb or 2.5 kg). The rep estimate in each cell comes from algebraically inverting this site's default Epley formula (1RM = w × (1 + r/30)) to solve for reps given a percentage: r = 30 × (1/p − 1), which keeps the whole site consistent with one named, cited formula instead of mixing in a second, harder-to-source rep chart.

Worked example: 300 lb 1RM

%MathWeightEst. reps
50%300 × 0.50150 lb30
55%300 × 0.55165 lb25
60%300 × 0.60180 lb20
65%300 × 0.65195 lb16
70%300 × 0.70210 lb13
75%300 × 0.75225 lb10
80%300 × 0.80240 lb8
85%300 × 0.85255 lb5
90%300 × 0.90270 lb3
95%300 × 0.95285 lb2
100%300 × 1.00300 lb1

300 was picked because every row lands on a clean 5 lb number with no rounding -- find the 300 row in the grid above and every value matches.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my row if my 1RM isn't a round number?

Round down to the nearest row and treat the percentages as slightly conservative, or use the calculator's own percentage table (on the 1RM calculator pages), which computes the exact percentages for your specific number instead of the nearest 5 lb step.

Why does the table stop at 500 lb / 250 kg?

That covers essentially every raw lifter's 1RM on any of the big four lifts. If you're training past that, the same math applies -- multiply your 1RM by the percentage directly.

Are the rep estimates the same as on the calculator pages?

Yes -- every rep number here comes from inverting the Epley formula (this site's default), exactly like the percentage table on the calculator pages. See /training-percentages for what each band is actually used for.
